Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 7, intends to negotiate a sole-source contract with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), 169 Ashley Avenue, Charleston, SC 29403, on or around September 1, 2012 to provide research assistance to support "Comparing Mindfulness-Based PTSD Treatment to Prolonged Exposure for Combat-Related PTSD: A Pilot Study." The above-named research project is funded by the Veterans Health Administration, and various staff members in MUSC's Psychiatry Department were involved in the formulation and implementation of the research design, Institutional Review Board process, and set-up of the de-identified database. Because of this involvement, MUSC's Psychiatry Department has highly specialized knowledge and expertise in the research design, methods, and purpose of the PTSD study and would be able to meet the stringent project deadlines. NAICS Code: 541720 Psychology Research and Development Services (Size Standard $19.0 Million) This proposed procurement is for services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source in accordance with FAR 6.302-1(b)(1)(i), Only One Responsible Source and no Other Supplies or Services will Satisfy Agency Requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement no later than August 17, 6 p.m. EST. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
