- Past Performance Questionnaire Davis Bacon Wage Determination IL8 Synopsis Solicitation for Paint and Stain at Midewin NTP, Wilmington, IL Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, tools and equipment required to re-apply exterior stain and paint to the wood siding, wood trim, wood fascia, wood soffit, and metal doors and frames. Work shall include: General-Contractor shall supply all tools and equipment required to complete the job. All landscaping shall be protected with only minimal impact to plants. Drop cloths shall be used to minimize paint scrapings or fresh paint drips from accumulating on the sidewalks and decorative plants and rocks surrounding the buildings. Ladders, lifts or scaffolding shall be placed to minimize impact to visitors and staff entering and exiting the building. Contractor will be responsible for all clean-up required during and at the completion of the job. Surface Preparation-Prior to application of new stain, surface shall be cleaned of all dirt and debris. Any chipped or peeling paint shall be scraped and/or sanded to provide a smooth surface for the new stain. Any spots where scraping/sanding has exposed bare wood must be re-primed before new stain is applied. Cracks and gaps in the wood must be caulked prior to application of new stain. Exterior Staining-Two (2) coats of an approved solid exterior stain shall be applied to the wood siding, trim, fascia, and soffit of the above reference buildings. Stain shall be from a quality manufacturer such as Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, or Pratt & Lambert. Additional manufacturers will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Contractor shall allow sufficient drying time before application of the second coat. Stain may be applied using brush, roller spray or other applicators according to manufacturer's written instructions. Contractor shall match colors of new stains to the existing colors. There will be a total of three different colors for the exterior stains: 1) siding on both buildings to match 2) darker color for Supervisor's Office columns 3) red stripe on Hotshot Office. Painting or staining of stucco or metal surfaces (with exception of the doors listed below) on either building is not included in this work. Exterior Doors and Frames- exterior doors and frames of both buildings shall be painted with two coats of an exterior paint suitable for application to metal in an approved color to match the existing color. Surfaces must be cleaned and sanded prior to painting. The Supervisor's Office has one double door entrance and two single door entrances. The Hotshot Office has four single door entrances. Utilities-water and electricity will be provided by the government and available for use by the contractor.
