Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Boston Healthcare System, has a requirement for research assistant skilled in both psychology and nursing.. firm-fixed price contract for 416 hours is anticipated and shall be awarded. It is the Government's belief that only a specific named individual possesses the required capabilities to successfully meet this requirement. It is the Government's intention to solicit and negotiate only with this source. This is not a solicitation; it is notice of intent to sole source a requirement. Inquiries/information received after August 17, 2012, the established deadline shall not be considered. The submission of any data for review shall not impede award of this contract as planned. The Government does not intend to pay for any information received. This synopsis is issued pursuant to FAR 6.302-1. STATEMENT OF WORK TITLE OF PROJECT AND PROJECT ID NUMBER: 1.Title: "Behavioral Activation for Diabetes and Depression" VA Investigators: The purpose and scope of this research contract is to provide research assistant services for the research project "Behavioral Activation for Diabetes and Depression". The research focus is to conduct a randomized-controlled pilot trial to evaluate the clinical effect of added behavioral activation to their group intervention in patients with diabetes mellitus and depression. The contractor shall provide services to further this purpose and to the full extent of the scope of this contract. 2.The contractor shall work on the above named project at the Providence VAMC and will not take any study materials out of their assigned work location. 3.The contractor shall work with members of the study team at the Providence VAMC to carry out the services/requirements described below. 4.Requirements: The contractor shall provide up to 416 hours of research assistance to carry out the following services: work with the research team to perform subject recruitment, study visits, phone call to subjects and data entry into a study database. She will ensure the accuracy of the data collection and correctness of the study procedures. She will also provide all the necessary documentation for IRB review and will work closely with Doctors XXXXXX and XXXXX to ensure that study policies are followed fully. The contractor will also assess the fidelity of the group intervention. She will also assist Dr. XXXXXX in conducting the education and intervention component of the group intervention for diabetes and cardiovascular risk reduction management and obtain all necessary VA research and security trainings. 5.Delivery: Services in support of delineated requirements will be performed from the effective date of the contract, not to exceed the hours requested. 6.Progress and Compliance: Progress and compliance will be monitored by the Principal Investigator. 7.The contractor shall submit invoices in a timely manner to the VA Principal Investigator for approval for services provided under this contract. All invoices are subject to approval by the Contracting Officer Representative (COR). 8.Performance under this contract is subject to all VA and VHA regulations and policy without limitation as to those now in effect or as may be established. 9.The C&A requirements do not apply, and a Security Accreditation Package is not required. 10.Performance under this contract is subject to the oversight of the VA Principal Investigator in consultation with the COR.
