Description
Place Riprap Upper Bank Paving as specified in Section 35 31 22.00 11 of the contract specifications and as noted on the included revetment drawings and these specifications. Additionally, please reference Contract Clause 252.236-7001 (CONTRACT DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS), subpart (e), and the included drawings RIPRAP UPPER BANK PAVING in the contract specifications for additional construction details concerning the placement of riprap upper bank paving. Additionally, Strip Paving for this work order will be required for the first pass along the area of work as specified in specifications Section 35 31 22.00 11, Paragraph 3.4.2 - Strip Paving. The required strip paving will be placed as directed by the Government Quality Assurance Representative (Contracting Officer's Representative) in an approximate 30-foot wide strip parallel to the inshore limit of Articulated Concrete Mattress (ACM) and/or water's edge and working landward up the slope. Once the initial 30-foot wide strip is placed, the remainder of the upper bank paving may be placed up to top bank. Finally, the paving landward of top bank is to be placed from top bank to the landward limits of paving. The paving should tie in to the tree screen (limits of clearing) landward of top bank and transition into the existing ground elevation along the tree screen. Also, this landward of top bank paving should be completed simultaneously with the start of upper bank paving operations at Merriwether-Cherokee (Mile 872L) or after the paving at Merriwether-Cherokee has been completed. The order of work for this upper bank paving is as follows: 1.30-foot wide strip paving parallel to water's edge/inshore limit of ACM. 2.Place remainder of paving to top bank. 3.Place paving landward of top bank to tree screen. NOTE: Special care shall be taken to not disturb the area surrounding the bald eagle nest located along top bank. This area has been fenced off with construction fencing for protection of the nest and trees surrounding the nest.
