Description
*** THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION*** The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Southwest Health Care Network (VISN 18), has a requirement to upgrade the current BARRX HALO Electrosurgical System for the Phoenix VA Health Care System (PVAHCS). The PVAHCS currently has HALO 90 and 360 generators, along with HALO 90 and 360 catheters. This equipment is used for radiofrequency ablation of dysplastic lesion of the esophagus, specifically, high grade, low grade and carcinoma in situ of the esophagus. It is also used for radiation proctitis and gastric angiodysplasia. These procedures are used to prevent esopahagectomies for early esophageal cancers. This is now the standard of care in the treatment of these lesions. Prior to obtaining this equipment, patients were fee based out to either ST. Joe's Hospital or the MAYO Clinic. Since this equipment was purchased, the PVAHCS has successfully treated approximately ten patients within the last year. The numbers of patients that the PVAHCS is treating is increasing primarily because the staff are now more comfortable with the technique and more of the doctors are able to perform the procedure. The current generators (HALO 90 and 360) will not accommodate the new HALO 60 catheters which will be needed to more aggressively and effectively treat some of the patients. The replacement equipment will still be adaptable to the HALO 90 catheters and the 360 Balloons which are also part of the treatment process. *** THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION***
