- I. INTRODUCTION Battelle Energy Alliance LLC (BEA), Management & Operating Contractor of the Idaho National Laboratory (INL), is requesting an expression of interest from prospective companies that are qualified and capable to design, manufacture and test an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for a U. S. Department of Energy owned, pressurized water nuclear reactor at the Laboratory. Only companies that meet all requirements herein should respond to this Expression of Interest. II. PROJECT DESCRIPTION Potential suppliers must have, or have the capability to establish a quality program that will meet all basic elements of ASME NQA-1, Quality Assurance Requirements for Nuclear Facility Applications. The anticipated stages of this project are as follows: 1. Design uninterruptible power supply a. Potential suppliers shall have proven engineering and design capabilities for UPS with ratings up to approximately 750 kVA meeting the requirements of applicable IEEE Class 1E Standards 2. Manufacture uninterruptible power supply a. Potential suppliers shall have proven experience fabricating UPSs for nuclear reactor or similar high reliability/availability systems 3. Testing and qualification a. Potential suppliers shall have full scale, post fabrication testing capabilities to certify the UPS meets specification requirements 4. Maintenance and spare parts support a. Potential suppliers shall have established capabilities to provide service and support of the UPS during operation III. SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS Prospective candidates should provide a brief written response to address the following: Detailed description of experience and qualifications for supplying and supporting the UPS described in Sections I and II above. This description must include the following: Summary of the company quality program Experience in designing, manufacturing, and testing UPS primary units as described in Section II Descriptions of recent projects of similar scope and complexity ( a minimum of 5 examples is requested) Overview of the company including name, phone number, and e-mail address of a representative of the firm who can be contacted regarding this Request for Expression of Interest. •IV. SUBMITTAL Please provide you expression of interest to the undersigned by close-of business on September 6, 2012. Note that responses must be no more than ten (10) pages in length. Only potentially qualified Offerors will receive the RFQ for the UPS project.
