- Description
- This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. National Institute of Drug Abuse, Office of Acquisitions-Neurosciences, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition, on behalf of the National Institute on Aging (NIA), intends to negotiate and award on purchase order on a noncompetitive basis to GE Healthcare Bio-Science Corporation, 800 Centennial Avenue, Piscataway, NJ, 08855-1327, to purchase a Typhoon FLA 7000 Laser Scanner system. The instrument is an integrated system designed to perform biomolecular imaging applications including sensitive and quantitative measurements of radioisotopic labels by storage phosphor, chemifluorescent Western blots, and single fluorescence, as well as digitization of colorimetric stains. GE Healthcare Bio-Science Corporation is the sole provider of the Typhoon FLA 7000 Laser Scanner. The Typhoon FLA 7000 is essential since many years of work are exclusive to this company data collection it's imperative that the lab maintains the integrity of data previously published and to adhere to the same quality standards already processed in ongoing experiments. Many experiments would have to be repeated so if the machine is changed all previous experiments become void and invalid to any unpublished data. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR Part 12 procedures and is exempt from the requirement of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing synopsis number 2621219 may be submitted to the NIDA, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition Branch, 31 Center Drive, Room 1B59, Bethesda, Maryland 20892-2080 and Attention: Jasmine Snoddy, Contract Specialist or email at Snoddyj@mail.nih.gov.
