Description
The purpose of modification 001 is to provide responses to questions received for the combined synopsis/solicitation N0017812R1022. Please provide questions by 4 September 2012 to stacey.palivoda@navy.mil. Question 1. Specifics on CPU's. How many total compute cores, and clock speed of the processors is required? Answer: This is a not-to-exceed procurement where the vendors are free to propose what they believe is the configuration providing us with the most machine for the funds we have available for the purchase. Proposals will be evaluated based on 1) technical acceptability, 2) core count and 3) processor clock speed and 4) cost not to exceed $530,000. Question 2. How long do you want support.1yr, 2yrs, etc.. ? A standard warranty should be included. Question 3. Is there a preferred O/S? Answer: No. Question 4. The Navy is asking for a turn key HPC solution in the above referenced solicitation for the Linux cluster, but does not specify a Linux distribution that should be provided in the quote. Can you please provide information on how the Navy will provide the operating system or if the offerers should include an EAL 4 CC certified Linux OS along with the quote? Answer: The vendor is expected to provide the operating system. The operating system, queuing software and compilers are expected to be installed and working when the system is accepted. Please also see answer to question #3 above. Question 5. If so, what length of maintenance does the Navy require for Linux? Answer: Please see answer to question #2 above.
