Description
The Army Contracting Command-New Jersey (ACC-NJ), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000, on behalf of the Office of the Project Manager of Combat Ammunition Systems, intends to issue a Sole Source modification for the production of an additional quantity of up to 144,000 155mm Artillery M795 Projectile Metal Parts (PMPTS). This modification shall be issued under the current contract W15QKN-08-C-0244 with General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, Inc. (GD-OTS). The PMPTS are produced at Scranton Army Ammunition Plant (SCAAP) operated by GD-OTS. This modification is intended to be issued using 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1); as implemented by FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii)(B)-Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. The intended modification will be a Firm Fixed Price with Economic Price Adjustment (FFP W/EPA) for up to an additional 144,000 each M795 PMPTS with initial delivery required by February 2013 and a monthly delivery rate of 8,960 each. The M795 is a 155mm High Explosive (HE) Projectile Body made from high fragmentation HF-1 steel alloy, and it has a finished weight of approximately 75 lbs. The Projectile is approximately 30 inches long and has a curved exterior with a maximum outside diameter of approximately 6.1 inches; and a minimum wall thickness of 0.3 inch in the ogive. In addition, the M795 utilizes a welded rotating band that encircles the body close to the base. For storage and transport, a shock attenuating lifting plug is threaded into the nose cavity, and a flexible cover is installed over the rotating band. Funds are available for this acquisition.
