Description
The following information is provided to assist the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAVAIR) Lakehurst, NJ in conducting market research of industry to identify potential contractors that possess the expertise, capabilities, experience, and facilities to modify our custom GETAC A790 laptop computer to meet the requirements for Rain and Blowing Rain test requirements. The laptop shall be fully operational before, during, and after experiencing conditions of MIL-STD 810G, Method 506.5, procedure I. The modifications cannot compromise electromagnetic interference (EMI) characteristics of the laptop. Our current custom GETAC A790 is a GETAC A790 laptop has the following options: a.) P/N A-14TS: Upgrade 14.1" display to Touch screen. b.) P/N A-MBDVDRW: Removable DVDRW Dual Drive. c.) P/N A-RBK: Upgrade keyboard to Rubber Backlight. d.) A-MIL461: Upgrade to Mil-STD-461-E emissions capability. In addition, the RJ-45/Ethernet port has been removed from the back of the GETAC A790 laptops by de-soldering it from the motherboard. There is an opening in the case where the RJ-45 port has been covered and sealed with Mylar and aluminum. A Mil-Spec circular connector, P/N MS 27508E10B5P, was installed to the X-bay on the left side of the laptop and electrically connected to provide Ethernet connectivity. The X-bay (also known as Bay 2) is the bay nearest the screen hinge on the left side of the computer. A small bead of ASI 306 Electronic Grade Self-Leveling Silicone Sealant/Adhesive has been applied between the touch screen and frame bezel. All screws around the touch screen have been replaced with stainless steel screws. The external handles on the battery and hard drive bays have been removed as well. The additional modification to meet Rain and Blowing Rain test requirements MIL-STD 810G, Method 506.5, procedure I shall not compromise the Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) characteristics of the EMI certification. THIS SYNOPSIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) BUT RATHER A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) from industry that will allow the Government to identify interested sources capable of meeting the requirements as stated in this synopsis. No Solicitation exists. Vendors can additionally provide a capabilities statement of no more than five pages in length that demonstrates the respondents ability to meet the requirements specified herein. The Government is also interested in receiving commercial published price lists for terms they believe meet the need of this RFI. There is no commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation, make an award, or be responsible for any monies expended by any interested parties in support of the effort mentioned above. All data received in response to this RFI, marked or designated as corporate or proprietary, will be fully protected from release outside the Government. Interested parties are responsible for adequately marking proprietary or competition sensitive information contained in their response. Failure to respond to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future associated RFP that may be issued. Information provided herein is subject to change and in no way binds the Government to solicit or award a contract. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) website: www.fbo.gov. It is the potential offeror's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of any follow-on information. All responses should be received no later than 5:00 PM EST, 8 October 2012.
