Description
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park NC, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with NYU School of Medicine, One Park Avenue, New York, NY 10016, pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This request is for Medicine Research Study for the following Phase: Phase 1) Global histone modifications in HepG2 cells treated with various does of CdC12 (Acute 0.1, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 5 M for 24 hrs; Chronic 0.01, 0.05, 0.1, 0.5 and 1 uM for 3 weeks) Phase 2) Choose the best acute and chronic does and conduct whole genome DNA methylation changes using the methylation array (Illumina human methylation 450 Bead Chip) Phase 3) Choose the two best acute and chronic does and do RNA Seq on the samples. Phase 4) Choose several of the global histone marks that change with cadmium treatment and do Chip-Seq with each of those marks following one chronic dose of cadmium. This research project will investigate the effects of the environmental carcinogen cadmium, on gene expression in the HepG2 human liver hepatoma cell line. Using exposure conditions verified in our laboratory, Dr. Costa's group at NYU will examine the effects of cadmium on the epigenome and transcriptome. The research performed though this contract will expand our knowledge of the effects of environmental toxicants on the genome, epigenome, and the regulation of gene expression. Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Purchasing Agent at the address stated above. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received with 8 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 8 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with NYU School of Medicine. The NAICS Code/Size is 611310/7.0M. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $150,000.
