Description
AMENDMENT A04 THE PURPOSE OF THIS AMENDMENT IS TO ANSWER QUESTIONS: Q1: Is the Load Mounting Ring (section 3 on page 6 of 29) to be included with the Gimble? Or is only the provision for the Ring to be included? A1: The load region of the gimbal assembly shall be suitable for mounting a 6-mm-thick aluminum plate with a diameter of at least 100 mm. Provision must be made for mounting this plate. In the RFQ this provision is called the "load mounting ring", which must be included with the gimbal. The 100 mm plate itself need not be included. Q2: Is the 2kg load in section 3C (page 7 of 29) inclusive or exclusive of the Load Mounting Ring? A2: The load is exclusive of the "Load Mounting Ring" (see above). The load will include the 100-mm-diameter 6 mm plate. The mass of this plate will be approximately 127 grams. If the contractor's Load Mounting Ring fits a plate that is larger than 100 mm, then the additional mass should be accommodated in the design (added to 2 kg when calculating the load to be accommodated). Q3: Please confirm the Vibration Damping (Section 5 on page 7 of 29) is indeed optional as indicated in the Checklist on page 11. A3: Any vibration generated by the motors shall be damped so that the specified gimbal repeatability is achieved within 5 seconds of reaching the intended position. This may or may not require special vibration damping hardware, depending on the contractor's design. NIST does not explicitly require vibration damping hardware. NIST does explicitly require that the specified gimbal repeatability be achieved within a wait time of no more than 5 seconds after reaching the intended position. ALL OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS REMAIN UNCHANGED.
