- The National Science Foundation (NSF) intends to participate as a sponsor for the annual American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) meeting on a sole source basis. The meeting will be held in Boston, MA on February 14-17, 2013. The AAAS is the largest interdisciplinary scientific and engineering society in America, with over 120,000 members worldwide and more than 280 affiliated societies. Each year, the meeting attracts the national and international participants. The meeting encompasses virtually all areas of science and technology. AAAS is uniquely positioned because of its stature and reaches within the scientific community to conduct this workshop. As a sponsor, NSF can reach out to a large number of participants at a fraction of the cost of holding its own event. Under the order, the funding will cover the costs of workshops, art displays, resource materials, AV equipment use, prime area booth space, and signage and supplies. The proposed contract action is for services for which the government intends to sponsor with only one source under the authority of FAR 12.106. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. This synopsis is for information purposes only.
