- U. S. Census Bureau Needs Statement Rapid Reaction Technology Office Census Workshop The Department of Defense, Rapid Reaction Technology Office (RRTO), will conduct a Solutions Workshop in the Washington DC area in mid January 2013 to help discover emerging commercial capabilities relevant to the United States Census Bureau's technical efforts preparing for the 2020 Census. The Census 2020 team is currently investigating technologies and conducting research to maintain census accuracy and reduce costs. The workshop will provide selected innovative companies with an opportunity to make short presentations to government representatives about their technologies and products. There is a potential for companies to be selected for pilot projects or experimentation if their technology appears to match Census or DoD needs. Census and DoD are looking for companies with emerging products in the following areas: - Data / Data Management - Mobile Infrastructure & Strategy - Workforce Management - Communications - Geospatial - Social Networking Specific needs are contained in the attached file:Census Needs Statement.pdf. The goal of this workshop is to speed adoption of promising new commercial technologies to both DOD and Census; and, to encourage broader commercial support to each. Workshops provide timely information to government users about emerging technical innovations and pilot opportunities. Companies interested in applying for participation in this workshop should contact the RRTO via e-mail at RRTOInnovation@osd.mil for an application. All applications must be received on or before 5:00 PM EDT, October 10, 2012. Selected companies will be responsible for their travel and all other expenses associated with participation in this January 2013 workshop which will be held in the Washington, DC area.
