Description
The purpose of this announcement is to solicit industry comment and feedback on the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) - Dual Frequency Operations (DFO) DRAFT Screening Information Request (SIR). The FAA is not seeking or accepting unsolicited proposals. This notice shall not be construed as a commitment by the FAA to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract, nor does it restrict the FAA to a particular acquisition approach. Responses to this notice are for informational purposes only and submissions are made on a voluntary basis. Responses will not be returned. No entitlements to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges to the Government will arise as a result of submissions in response to this notice or the FAA's use of such information. The DRAFT SIR documents are subject to change and should not be used to respond to any future solicitation. Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) Dual Frequency Operations (DFO) will utilize Department of Defense Global Positioning System (GPS) L1 Coarse Acquisition and L5 signals to maintain existing Single Frequency User Service and provide a new Dual Frequency User Service. The scope of this DRAFT SIR is to upgrade the WAAS infrastructure to enable reception and collection of the L5 signal with the WAAS reference station network and implement system changes required to sustain the WAAS. This effort will also require engineering and/technical support. Feedback is requested on the following DRAFT SIR documents included in this announcement: (1) Section B (2) Section C (3) Section D (4) Section E (5) Section F (6) Section G (7) Section H (8) Section I (9) List of Section J Attachments (10) Section K (11) Section L (12) Section M (13) Section J Attachments (without the TDP) The FAA requests written responses be sent electronically to dave.keehan@faa.gov and deane.bunce@faa.gov no later than Friday, October 31, 2012. All responses must be submitted in Microsoft Office 2010 compatible formats. The Technical Data Package (TDP) is available in Compact Disk (CD) format and available only upon request by email to dave.keehan@faa.gov and deane.bunce@faa.gov. The email request for the TDP CD must include the following information: Company Name Position/Title Mailing Address Phone number All questions regarding this DRAFT SIR package must be referred to dave.keehan@faa.gov and deane.bunce@faa.gov.
