Point of contact Holly Knott, Contract Specialist (Contractor), e-mail: holly.b.knott.ctr@us.army.mil The following verbiage is directly from the Justification and Approval for sole source and is posted in accordance with FAR 5.102(a)(6). This is a Sole Source Justification for a Brainlab Kolibri Stereotactics System for the 60th Medical Group at Travis Air Force Base, California. The Brainlab Kolibri is unique for the following reasons: The Brianlab Kolibri integrates with both the Siemens Arcadis Orbic 3-D C-arm and Karl Zeiss OPMI Vario 700 microscope. This integration provides incredibly accurate models for screw placement in spinal fusion cases while reducing the size of the incision, which in turn is reducing risks for infection, postoperative pain, quicker recovery time and less radiation dosage due to less fluoroscopy used. Images viewed in the microscopes uses navigational overlays to define regions brain tumors to achieve total tumor removal. The Kolibri is also easier to store and use without disruption of the flow of personnel and equipment during cases due to its much smaller footprint while allowing greater ease in visualizing the navigation screen. This is a huge benefit to these patients to decrease time under anesthesia.
