Description
The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) hereby announces its intent to issue a Request for Information (RFI). This Sources Sought notice is not a Request for Proposal/Quote or Bid. This Sources Sought is a market research tool to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources which will be used for planning purposes and to determine if potential sources exist to support a Small Business set-aside requirement. This information is not to be interpreted as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract. Responses will not be considered as proposals and no award will be made as a result of this notice. Participation in this effort is strictly voluntary with no cost or obligation to be incurred by the Government. The information obtained from submitted responses may be used in development of an acquisition strategy and future solicitation(s). Respondents will not be notified of the results of this source sought notice. GSA is interested in finding glass manufacturers who are capable of producing large pieces of ballistic rated glazing. The glazing is needed to replace existing glazing in blast rated window frames. The windows are of various shapes and sizes, but the primary and largest window requires new glazing in the following size: 2316 mm X 1728 mm. The ballistic rating for the currently installed glazing is NIJ Level III-A. GSA has been led to believe that ballistic rated replacement glazing in the maximum size needed can no longer be manufactured with a warranty. This inquiry seeks any information from manufacturers about their capabilities to meet this need. Suggestions will also be accepted and reviewed. Instructions: All interested parties should submit a response in Microsoft word or PDF Format. All information should be UNCLASSIFIED material only. Any company proprietary information must be marked as such. Information should not exceed 5 single sided 8 1/2 X 11 pages, with one inch margins, and font no smaller than 12 point. Please submit two (2) copies via email of your capability of producing large pieces of ballistic rated glazing. Please submit responses to General Services Administration, Attn: Terrie Latimer, Contracting Officer, via email @ terrie.latimer@gsa.gov, GSA/NCR, 7 th & D Street, S.W. Washington, DC, 20407 no later than 2:00 P.M. (Eastern Standard Time) on Monday, October 15 th, 2012. When submitting your response to this Sources Sought Notice, in the Subject Line of your email please identify the Solicitation Number. Facsimile responses will not be accepted. ALL RESPONSES RECEIVED AFTER THIS DATE AND TIME WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. DISCLAIMER AND IMPORTANT NOTES: Any organization responding to this notice should ensure that its response is complete and sufficiently detailed to allow the Government to determine the organization's qualifications to perform the work. Respondents are advised that the Government is under no obligation to acknowledge receipt of the information received or provide feedback to respondents with respect to any information submitted. Information gathered from this Sources Sought Notice will help GSA develop a strategy to more efficiently determine is there a market of firms available to supply the government's needs. The Sources Sought Notice initiative may result in future competitive solicitations to effectuate GSA's objectives. GSA intends to distribute additional information from this Sources Sought Notice if there is a Market available for this supply within 30 days of the publication of this RFI. Additional information will be provided if there is a Market available. Until additional information is posted regarding this RFI, GSA will be unable to respond to any detailed inquires. For general inquiries, please contact Terrie Latimer at: terrie.latimer@gsa.gov
