- Description
- This is a Sources Sought notice. This is not a Solicitation Announcement, nor is it a Request for Proposal. This request does not obligate the government in any contract award. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, is conducting preliminary research to determine the market capabilities of potential contractors to support projects in the category of Dike Raising in Jasper County, SC. Any contractor interested in performing such work, must be able to perform the activities described below. The Savannah Harbor Jones Oyster-bed Island Back Dike Improvements Project consists of raising the back dike along the northeastern boundary of the island approximately five to six feet in elevation in order to increase DMCA capacity. The back dike portion of the island is close to 24,000 feet in length and it is estimated that up to 850,000 cubic yards of material obtained from within the DMCA will be required to construct this embankment. Bid Options There are presently eight weir locations across the back dike on the island. Three of the eight weirs located in the eastern most portion of the island require modifications and repairs to ensure proper functioning. The repair or replacement of these three weirs and the construction of a new access walkway will be included as an option to the base contract. A second option to the base contract is the construction of a five acre bird island in the containment area as a sanctuary and nesting area for migratory water fowl. It is estimated that up to 65,000 cubic yards of material obtained from within the DMCA will be required to construct the bird island. All interested firms should be experienced at clearing, grubbing, ditching, mowing and processing wet soft silt-like soils inter-bedded with sand lenses and overlaying marsh deposits. Firms with 237990 as an approved NAICS code have until 6 November 2012 at 2:00pm to submit the following information: -Name & Address of your Firm -Point of Contact (name/phone/email) -Business Size, to include designations such as HUBZone, 8(a), Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, Small Disadvantaged Business, Woman-Owned Business, and large business.
