- Description
- NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE: Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Network Contracting Office 9 (NCO 9) intends to award a sole source contract award to ChemDaq Inc., 300 Business Center Drive, Wauwatosa, Pittsburgh, PA 15205. The Period of Performance for Contract Award will be one (1) twelve (12) month period, with four (4), twelve (12) month option periods. This requirement is for equipment to be serviced/maintained which includes ChemDaq Steri-Trac System but not limited to: Ethylene Oxide ( EtO) and Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) Monitoring System to include the computer, remote controls, and sensor exchange every 4 months. There are four (4) EtO and two (2) H202 sensors, EE# 51119, S/N 20080929D026. Equipment is located in the SPS at VA Medical Center, 1101 Veterans Drive, Lexington, Ky. Required service shall ensure that the equipment functions in conformance with manufacturer specifications and the latest published editions of NFPA-99 and OSHA. This includes performance standards and specifications used when the ChemDaq system was procured and any upgrades / updates thereafter. Required services are not available via the contractor's FSS contract and, therefore, will be incorporated as open market items in accordance with FAR 8.402(f). ChemDaq is the sole manufacturer of the EtO and H2O2 sensors that are used with the Steri-Trac system. They are unique in the fact that the sensors are calibrated the day before they are shipped and adjustments aren't required once they arrive at the facility. The sensors are exchanged every four (4) months to eliminate failures and false alarms that can cause lost productivity if SPS has to be evacuated. The criticality of ensuring the sensors are properly calibrated to the specific gases is the key to having a reliable monitoring / alarm system to warn staff of any gases within the environment. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES; however, any firm that believes it can meet the requirements may give written notification prior to the response due date and time. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to perform the requirements. Responses received will be evaluated; however, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the Government will proceed with the award. Responses are due by October 24, 2012, 10:00 p.m. (EDT). Responses shall be submitted via e-mail to matthew.whisman@va.gov. Telephone requests or inquires will not be accepted.
