Description
The National Institutes of Health, Clinical Center has a requirement for patient lodging to accommodate Clinical Center patients. The NIH Clinical Center (CC) is America's clinical research hospital and the world's largest hospital dedicated totally to clinical research. Through clinical research, promising discoveries in the laboratory are translated into better health and health care for all. Currently, there are about 1500 clinical research studies in progress here. The NIH CC is a unique facility in that all patients are on a research protocol, over 50% of them are from across the country, and many are here for extended stays. The needs of this type of patient population differ from a community or academic medical center that draws mostly from the local community. Often these patients are alone, may not have many visitors, and/or are without family members for support. Many patients with chronic or acute illnesses have depleted their financial resources, and the cost of travel and lodging causes them additional stress. A positive experience with lodging and accommodations is an important contributor to a patient's overall welfare. NIH intends to award multiple Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contracts for multiple lodging facilities within a 25 mile radius from the NIH Clinical Center. The Government anticipates the total life of the Contract shall not to exceed 60 months. The base period of performance will be twelve months from the date of award, with options to renew for four additional twelve month periods. Lodging facilities must meet the following requirements to participate when the solicitation is released in 15 days: 1. Be located within 25 mile radius of the National Institutes of Health, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda MD. 2. Be compliant with Hotel and Motel Fire Safety Act of 1990. 3. Be compliant with the American with Disability Act and 4. Must provide refrigeration i.e. Kitchenette and/or refrigerator for storing medications or special dietary products must be provided in the room if requested. All responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by the agency. This notice will close fifteen days from its posting. The solicitation will be posted through Government-wide Point of Entry (GPE). The solicitation will be located on Federal Business Opportunities www.fbo.gov.
