- THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS FOR INFOMRATION PURPOSES ONLY. Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to negotiate on a sole source basis a two-month contract to US Facilities, Inc. This sole source contract is required to ensure continuity of services for the operation and maintenance of two highway drawbridges, one highway swing bridge, three navigation locks, three water control spillways, approximately 50 miles of canal waterways, all real property facilities, and approximately 3,100 acres of land owned by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District, which is known as the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW). The completion date of the short-term contract is 28 February 2013 and the estimated dollar amount for is approximately $393,000.00. The existing contract, W91236-09-C-0001 was awarded to US Facilities, Inc. using full and unrestricted competition on 28 December 2007 for a base year and four one-year option periods of performance. The Contractor provides all services, materials, supplies, plant, labor, equipment, utilities and supervision, except as specified as Government furnished, to operate, maintain and repair the facilities. The current option period of performance ends on 31 December 2012. THIS SYNOPSIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. It is a market research tool being used to determine the availability of other qualified sources that can meet the above requirements for a short-term contract to provide the specified services to operate and maintain the AIWW facilities. The Government is not obligated to and will not pay for any information received from potential sources as a result of this special notice.
