- Description
- General Information Document Type: Sources Sought Notice Solicitation Number: AMD-13-SS10 Title: Broadly tunable continuous wave or pulsed laser system. Naics Code: 334516 Contracting Office Address Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division, 100 Bureau Drive, Building 301, Room B129, Mail Stop 1640, Gaithersburg, MD, 20899-1640 The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) seeks information on commercial vendors capable of providing a Broadly tunable continuous wave or pulsed laser system for the Search Sensor Science Division. This is a sources sought notice for market research purposes. After the results of this market research are obtained and analyzed and specifications are developed that can meet NIST's minimum requirements, NIST may conduct a competitive procurement and subsequently award a Purchase Order. If at least two qualified small businesses are identified during this market research stage, then any competitive procurement that resulted would be conducted as a small business set-aside. The Broadly tunable continuous wave or pulsed laser system will need to meet the following NIST preliminary requirements: The SIRCUS (Spectral Irradiance and Radiance responsivity Calibrations using Uniform Sources) facility within the Sensor Science Division does advanced radiometry using tunable laser sources. To expand the capabilities of the SIRCUS facility and respond to Other Agency funded calibration requirements, we seek a broadly tunable continuous wave or pulsed (pulse widths > 10 nsec and repetition rates > 1 MHz) laser system with performance parameters detailed in the Product Specifications, reproduced below. 1. Continuous wave or pulsed output with pulse width greater than 10 nsec and repetition rates greater than 1 MHz; 2. Tuning Range & Output power > 1 W over the spectral range from 2.3 um to 3 um and from 1.6 um to 1.95 um (Note, full tuning range can be met using multiple interchangeable modules); 3. Power Stability: < 5% rms; 4. Output mode: TEM00; linewidth < 3 nm; 5. Room temperature from 65 F to 80 F; Cooling: forced air (not water) ; 6. Power supply/seed laser electronics should be rack-mountable; 7. Seed laser should be coupled to the OPO head via an umbilical; umbilical length 4 feet or longer; 8. Laser head should be able to be mounted to a standard 3 foot by 5 foot optical table; 9. System must be shippable, without the need for major setup or re-alignment after shipment; 10. Consideration will be given for external software control; 11. Consideration will be given for LabView*TM National Instruments software instrument control drivers. NIST is seeking responses from all responsible sources, including large, foreign, and small businesses. Small businesses are defined under the associated NAICS code for this effort, 334516, as those domestic sources having 500 employees or less. Please include your company's size classification in any response to this notice. Companies that can provide the materials listed above are requested to email a detailed report describing their abilities to christopher.ganey@nist.gov no later than the response date for this sources sought notice. The report should include achievable specifications and any other information relevant to your product or capabilities. Also, the following information is requested to be provided as part of the response to this sources sought notice: 1. Name of the company that manufactures the system components for which specifications are provided. 2. Name of company(ies) that are authorized to sell the system components, their addresses, and a point of contact for the company (name, phone number, fax number and email address). 3. Indication of number of days, after receipt of order that is typical for delivery of such systems. 4. Indication of whether each instrument for which specifications are sent to christopher.ganey@nist.gov are currently on one or more GSA Federal Supply Schedule contracts and, if so, the GSA FSS contract number(s). 5. Any other relevant information that is not listed above which the Government should consider in developing its minimum specifications and finalizing its market research.
