- Description
- This is a request for information is posted in accordance with FAR 52.215-3 - Request for Information or Solicitation for Planning Purposes. This is not a solicitation for proposals and no contract will be awarded from this request for information. Responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. The VA is conducting market research for informational purposes only. This market research will be used for preliminary planning to gain knowledge of capabilities/qualifications from interested business concerns that have the resources to perform the requirements stated below. Responses are required by 4:00 PM EST, 10 December 2012, and must include documented capability to the requirements below: The VA is seeking vendors who can provide a system capable of importing 2D and 3D data from multiple formats for the Hines VA Hospital, Hines, IL. These formats will be inputted from multiple medical imaging cameras and optical coherence tomography devices. This system must also have the ability to create interactions and output virtual reality visualizations to a variety of 3D technologies such as the web, 3D stereoscopic displays, holographic, or immersive displays/environments. This system should also include/be compatible with an immersive display and Neuro Tracker Perceptual-Cognitive Training System. Requirements 1.Data Transfer: capability to import data in multiple formats including CAD and other 3D formats. Dynamic Download and Unload for large data capacity access to models; Dynamic loading and database integration. Software must have the capability to provide Dynamic loading of large textures, geometries and other content data from the server. Complex configurations to be built without having to download all components in advance and any changes of such configurations be done on the server without changing the configuration application. This capability is critical for sizable applications. 2.Stereo Rendering: software to provide complete flexibility for high level customization capability to support both hardware and software rendering. 3.Visual Programming: providing the process for fast development of complex simulation scenarios and configurators. 4.Physics Based Simulation: simulation of how objects and systems behave in the real world including real-time physics, kinematics, collision, gravity and friction. 5.High Visual Quality: advanced rendering engine that can produce photorealistic images through pixel/vertex shaders, real-time reflections, shadows, light maps, Cg script node and Cg shader library, etc.; render large geometry and detailed models (>500,000 polygons = level of detail. 6.Rapid content creation tools, rapid interaction creation and reusability. 7.Interactive, collaborative, and immersive meeting environment - allowing multiple people from multiple locations to virtually meet in a fully immersive and collaborative environment. An online meeting product with features such as : shared virtual worlds, voice communication with voice-over-IP (VoIP), live video support, virtual presentation surface supporting all major formats for text, imagery and any software via TCP/UDP, multi-format document viewing, easy creation of realistic virtual environments. 8.Support for all major types of tracking systems such as optical, magnetic, and ultrasonic and inertia based. Alignment of viewing frustum between viewports for perpendicular screens depending on tracked viewing position. 9.Support for Wand interaction devices. 10.An easy-to-use graphical user interface to input screen dimensions, track system position and stereo-parameters for real-time viewport calculations with significantly reduced development time 11.Allowance for true scalability from web deployment to highest level of immersive device. 12.Built in support for advanced peripherals such as joystick, pinch gloves, head-mounted displays, voice command and control, and tracker systems. 13.Support for advanced multi-media, stereo displays and multi-wall systems, support for high resolution stereo (Quad buffer) and multi-wall high quality projections and stereo displays. Capable of providing seamless publishing of high quality stereoscopic data on large screens to produce experiential environments for presentations, lectures, etc. 14.Support for 3Dsound. 15.Should have the capability of being automatically used on the Internet, with head mounted display, tablet PC, Desktop, multi-wall Quad Buffer Stereo or Cave environments. 16.Web solution: plug-in and plug-in free. 17.Collaboration Session support. 18.Auto Stereoscopic Display support. 19.Support the NeuroTracker Perceptual-Cognitive Training System which provides attentional training applicable to all levels of human performance: from restoration during rehabilitation, degradation from neurobiological alterations and healthy aging, to performance optimization. It is the Government's intention to identify sources that can meet the above criteria. All interested business concerns shall indicate interest in responding to this RFI via email by providing the company name, capabilities stated above, mailing address, phone number, and electronic mail address to the following: Chad Turner, Contracting, chad.turner@va.gov Responses are due NLT COB 4:00 PM EST on 10 December 2012. NOTE: This RFI is for market research purposes only. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP), solicitation or an indication that the Government will contract for this requirement. The Government will not pay for information received in response to this RFI and is in no way obligated by the information received.
