- 1.2 Description The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), Special Communication Requirements (SCR) Division is surveying the commercial vendor community for all interested parties in a proposed requirement for Transit and Foam Storage Cases. The purpose of this RFI is to gain insight into best practices/capabilities in industry for existing products, or the ability of industry to modify existing products, to meet the requirements below. Vendors are asked to respond with documentation outlining their capabilities, feedback on the requirements listed within this RFI. The Government would like to see concepts presented through drawings, slick sheets, website, or PowerPoint brief. Below is a list of the minimum mandatory requirements. MIL-STD ENVIRONMENTAL TRANSIT CASE (4-15U). The transit case shall have a 19"- 24"width, 24"- 36" depth, and 4RU-15RU height. In the event that the case in question must meet airline requirements for checked or carry-on baggage, the case must not exceed 45 linear inches (l+w+h) for carry on requirements, and the check baggage requirement of 62 linear inches (l+w+h). Environmental: Temperature (-65° to +185° F), Corrosion Resistant, Water Tight/Resistant. All cases shall have capacity to receive any option in 1.2.1 MIL-STD ENVIRONMENTAL TRANSIT CASE (OPTIONS). The test duration shall be 5 minutes. 1.2.12 Foam Insert 1.2.12.1 Pick and Pluck Foam 1.2.12.2 Custom Foam 1.2.12.3 Fabric Lined Custom Foam 1.2.13 Accessories 1.3 Foam Storage Case (up to 15 Ft3) The foam case shall have an internal volume between approximately 2ft3-15ft3. Environmental: Temperature (-65° to +185° F), Corrosion Resistant, Water Tight/Resistant. Bags can range in size from 57"L x 16"W x 13H to 17.5"L x 3.5"W x 8.25"H. Bags must also have handles on both top and bottom for easy carry. Hardware and all aspects of the bag design shall be the same throughout the bags purchased. While the Government intends to use this information for future acquisition planning purposes, including any set-aside decisions, it will not release any information about your approach that might in any way compromise your competitive posture or proprietary information.
