- Network Contracting Officer 12, Great Lakes Acquisition Center, intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Hygiene, Inc., Gainesville, FL, for the HyGreen Hand Hygiene Reminding and Recording System and associated equipment for the Oscar G. Johnson VAMC, Iron Mountain, MI. This procurement is being conducted in accordance with FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy the agency requirements. The following MANDATORY functions/characteristics are found with this hand hygiene reminding and recording system: "Physically prompt healthcare workers (e.g. through the use of a badge) to use hand sanitizing station if they fail to do so "Detect whether or not healthcare worker has actually washed hands utilizing a sanitizing gel or soap to hands "Make it visually obvious to the patient whether or not the healthcare worker has washed their hands "Identify and track hand washing compliance data on individual healthcare workers "Remind healthcare workers to wash in-between patients and provide bed specific compliance (for rooms in where there are multiple beds) "Hand washing data is recorded and reports can be generated on individual healthcare workers "System does not use proprietary soap dispensers and shall be compatible with facility's existing hand sanitizing dispensers oPurell ® Hand Sanitizer Dispenser (Grainger Part No. 19KP9) using Purell ® Hand Sanitizer oGojo ® Soap Dispensers (Grainger Part No. 1PKP7) using Gojo ® Soap This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals. No solicitation documents are available and telephone requests will not be honored. However, if a firm believes it can meet the requirements specified above, it must furnish information about its products, services, and references from other customers who are using these products and services, to the Contracting Officer by 4:00 PM (EST), December 14, 2012. Information must be sent to the Contracting Officer via email to chad.turner@va.gov or via mail to: Chad Turner, Contracting Officer, NCO 12, 115 South 84th Street, Suite 101, Milwaukee, WI 53214-1476. Responses received will be evaluated however; a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received by the deadline, the VA will proceed with sole source negotiations with HyGreen, Inc.
