Description
This notice is provided for information purposes only. NASA LaRC awarded a firm-fixed price purchase order to Boeing Satellite Systems, Inc. for the effort entitled EHD-Based Variable Conductance Thermal Interface Material (VCTIM). This award results from a competitive selection under the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Headquarters Office of Chief Technologist (OCT) Game Changing Technology (GCT) Division Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) NNH11ZUA001K, Unique and Innovative Space Technology. The GCT Division of OCT focuses on maturing advanced space technologies that may lead to entirely new approaches for the agencies future space missions and solutions to significant national needs. Successful products of GCT will provide or lead to revolutionary advances in capability. These advances will enable missions that cannot otherwise be accomplished or that significantly enhance mission performance from current capabilities. The focus of this six month effort is to develop a new class of adaptive nanothermal interface material utilizing field-driven electrohydrodynamic (EHD) nanofluids, whose thermal resistance can be varied on demand.
