Description
The purpose of this special announcement is to provide responses to industry questions received as a result of the Grenadier Sighting System (GSS) compatibility checks, held December 2012. Responses are provided as clarification only and remain subject to change. This announcement and the contained responses are issued for planning purposes only. In the event there are any inconsistencies in correspondence, the final potential GSS solicitation will take precedence. No information exchanged with industry will be considered in the evaluation process. Proposals received in response to the final potential GSS solicitation will be the only time that an Offeror's information is evaluated for award. 1. INDUSTRY QUESTION: quote mark The GSS, with batteries shall weigh no more than 9 ounces. A weight of no more than 7.5 ounces is desired. quote mark Has the Government updated or made any changes to the GSS weight requirement? If so, can this information be provided to contractors? GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: The weight requirements for the GSS have not changed. 2. INDUSTRY QUESTION: quote mark The GSS shall provide a M320 compatible centerline mounting bracket for mounting GSS on the M320 in the stand alone configuration. quote mark (a) Will the Government accept multiple brackets to enable the Grenadier to mount the Ladder Sight on either the Left or Right side of the M320 when used in the stand-alone configuration? (b) Also, does the Government consider centerline mounting an approximate location to assure the GSS can be operated without difficulty and the M320 can be sighted using standard marksmanship techniques? GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: (a) Only (1) one bracket is allowed. A universal bracket which could mount to either side would be acceptable. (b) The Government considers centerline mounting to be a location in line with the centerline of the M320's barrel. 3. INDUSTRY QUESTION: Can the Government provide an electronic or paper copy of the M320 TM 9-1010-232-10 and TM 9-1010-232-23P? GOVERNMENT RESPONSE: Instructions for requesting a copy of the M320 TM will be outlined in the Solicitation for the GSS Program. Should further questions arise, please contact via email: Holly Gregg, Contract Specialist, at holly.c.gregg.civ@mail.mil. This is a special notice only and is for planning purposes only. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION AND DOES NOT OBLIGATE THE GOVERNMENT TO ISSUE A SOLICITATION.
