- Description
- The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network 23 Contracting Office, Minneapolis Minnesota intends to award a brand name firm fixed price contract in accordance with FAR Parts 13 Test Program. The North America Industry Classification System Code [NAICS] is 334519, Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing and the size standard is 500 employees. This will be a brand name solicitation and the Government intends to award a firm fixed price contract for a quantity of one. Minneapolis Midwest Healthcare Network is requesting the purchase of this mass spec instrument as a compliment for the existing Vitek instrument in the Microbiology Laboratory. Mass spectrometry measures particles based on their mass-to-charge ratio. To do this, a sample is exposed to an ion source, and its particles (ie proteins) ionized, separated based on their mass-to-charge ratio, detected and then the generated mass spectrum is compared to a large library of mass spectra. The instrument performs identifications of bacterial, yeast and fungal pathogens within minutes of sample preparation, as opposed to a day, or in the case of fungal elements, many days. All responsible sources may submit a response, which if timely received, will be considered by The Department of Veterans Affairs, NCO23, Minneapolis Minnesota. This synopsis is for notification purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation for bids or proposals. Any company that feels they have items that meet the needs of the Government must submit their technical data (2 pages or less) to support their claim. The information must explain the company's ability to overcome propriety information and compatibility with existing instrumentation. The Government does not intend to pay for any information provided under this synopsis. All questions should be addressed to Tim Connors via email at timothy.connors@va.gov.
