- This contract action was accomplished using other than competitive procedures because there is an unusual and compelling urgency and a delay in award would result in serious injury, financial or other, to the Government (FAR 6.302-2). See posted J&A for further information. Kit, Floor, Decking, 1 3/8 quote mark Thickness X 28' 6 quote mark Length for M872A3. Vertically finger jointed full trailer length wooden floorboards for use in flooring M870A1, M872A1, and M872A3 flatbed semitrailers. Such boards must extend completely without butt end or bead from the front of the trailer to the rear of the trailer. The finger joints shall be a minimum of 36 inches apart. The adhesive used on the finger joints shall meet the requirements of Mil-A-46051. The boards are ship lapped inch in order to prevent splash through. All boards with the exception of those to be fitted next to the metal side railings are ship lapped on both sides in accordance with commercial standards, board thickness. Boards to be located next to the metal side railing are ship-lapped on the inside edges only. The edge next to the side railing is cut to fit flush against the railing. Board thickness is 1 3/8 inchs. The length of the boards M872A3 is 28 FT 6 IN. Finger jointed board to achieve full trailer length are acceptable. Finger joints shall be bonded with a phenol based waterproof adhesive or equivalent. Each floorboard shall be proof load tested for safe working stress. Ends of boards shall be wax sealed. The boards do not contain crusher beads. Dimensional tolerances on ship lapp dimensions, +/- 1/32 inch. The material used for the finger jointed full-length boards shall be Apitong Keruing dense species only that is free from rot, pitch, stain or open defects which is typically produced from standard and better (MGR 1984) lumber. Sapwood, if any, to be fresh, not stained or rotted and graded after machining. The M870 series trailers utilizes purpleheart. There shall be no splits. The ends shall be coated and sealed. Optional material used for the full length boards can be any of the hardwoods listed in CID A-A-52520 that fully meet the requirements of this CID. Width lengths vary but generally are 5 quote mark & 7 quote mark wide shiplap with the exception being the quote mark starter quote mark or quote mark finisher quote mark board which are usually being a narrower quote mark T quote mark section board. Test Requirements: Each board shall be certified to have been successfully proof loaded, exceeding Truck Trailer Manufacturers Association (TTMA) load rating criteria by continuously moving each board lengthwise through a mechanism exerting a constant test load along the board's entire length. This mechanism shall reject any plank, which does not meet the TTMA load rating criteria. The finger joint shall be able to withstand a bending strength of 13,300 psi. center panels).
