Description

This is a Sources Sought announcement. There is no solicitation available at this time. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Des Moines Regional Office, Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment Service (VR&E), Des Moines, IA is conducting market research to determine the existence of companies that can perform the following: The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, supplies and supervision necessary to complete residential home modification consistent with meeting the independent living needs of a disabled veteran. Work to be performed includes removal and installation of existing wrought iron railing (front porch); renovation/upgrade of existing upstairs bathroom/laundry room. Modifications to the bathroom shall include installation of a bidet, removal and installation of a new vanity. Connect to the existing sanitary line serving the adjoining bathroom. Extend existing water supply lines to service the new bidet. Provide a 32" grab bar (horizontally) behind the bidet and a 30" high floor-to-wall grab bar to the left of the bidet. Installation of 2X6 blocking for grab bars adjacent wall and patch to match existing wall texture finish. Removal of current toilet, replace with ADA-compliant toilet. Provide 32" grab bar horizontally on both sides of toilet. Remove existing vinyl flooring and subfloor. Replace with 5/8" plywood subfloor and new vinyl sheet flooring. Clean and repaint lay-in ceiling track, remove existing ceiling tiles and replace with new. Reinstall existing light and air supply register. Replace existing room ceiling exhaust fan and vent through attic. Provide new dryer vent with exit through outside wall. Prime repaired wall areas and repaint all bathroom walls. Prime repaired wall areas in adjoining rooms and paint to match adjacent walls. The Government's estimated construction time for the project is 90 days. This based on the most current information available to date. Updated information will be posted electronically on the Federal Business Opportunities as it shall become available. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 236118, and the small business size standard is $33.5M. The Government anticipates award of a firm fixed price contract. Any interested and qualified sources are requested to provide a brief capabilities statement and a letter of interest to Rebecca Quilhot via email to Rebecca.Quilhot@va.gov. As part of your capability statement please include any current or past contracts you have been awarded or the ability to obtain sufficient proof of capability for this type of contract. In additional include what socio-economic category your company qualifies as (i.e. Small Business, SBA Certified HUB Zone Firm, SBA Certified Small Disadvantaged Business, Service Disabled Veteran Owned, Veteran Owned Business, Women Own Business). Any information provided is strictly voluntary. The Government will not pay for information submitted in responses to this Sources Sought Notice. To be considered in the research, please provide the information above not later than 3:00 CST on March 14, 2013.
