- This is a sources sought announcement only. The purpose of this notice is to conduct market research and obtain information from qualified potential offerors. No formal solicitation document exists at this time. The Government is not obligated to nor will it pay for or reimburse any costs associated with responding to this sources sought synopsis request. This notice shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract, nor does it restrict the Government to a particular acquisition approach. The Government will in no way be bound to this information if any solicitation is issued. The Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), 508 Fulton St, Durham, NC is seeking potential sources capable of providing veterinarian oversight. At a minimum the contractor shall provide: oversight for ensuring compliance with occupational health, hazard containment, and zoonoses control programs; oversight of surgical and post-surgical care programs; provide on-site inspections of each animal facility to assess the health and well-being of all research animals; guidance to investigators in regard to selection of anesthetics and analgesics, and proper post-surgical and euthanasia methodologies; training to the animal care and research staff members; assist investigators with the development of research protocols as well as provide guidance in selecting specific animal models, and provide veterinary pre-review of investigator Animal Component of Research Protocol (ACORP). Contractor shall be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in North Carolina and shall provide the principal professional, regulatory and veterinary oversight for this program. The applicable NAICS Code is 541940 with a size standard $7 million. Responses to this sources sought notice should include the following: name and address of company; business size (large or small); identify whether or not firm falls into any of the following socioeconomic categories - 8(a), HUBZone, Service Disabled Veteran-Owned; brief capability statement of qualifications and any other pertinent information, which demonstrates ability to meet the above requirement.
