Description

Special notice The Library of Congress (Packard Campus) for Audio Visual Conservation has a requirement to purchase (1) 2" Quadruplex Video Cleaner for use of its laboratory and intends to issue a Sole Source purchase order to Broadcast Store inc. Library of Congress invites expressions of interest from potential offerors. Any firm desiring consideration must identify, in writing, its ability to meet the above mentioned delivery period. All expressions of interest must be received by email to rbeh@loc.gov no later than March 15, 2013 at 4:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. Draft SOW The Library of Congress Packard Campus for Audio Visual Conservation has a requirement to purchase (1) 2" Quadruplex videotape cleaner for use in its Video laboratory. The Library has in its collection thousands of 2" quadruplex videotapes spanning the period from the early 60s to the early 80s, a period which saw an explosion of television programming, including shows such as: "The Ed Sullivan Show", "The Tonight Show", "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-in", "All in the Family", and "The Jeffersons", as well as sporting events, news, and documentaries all of which were recorded on 2" quadruplex tape. Many of these programs could be lost without a reliable way of playing the tapes. This procurement will acquire (1) one 2" tape cleaner to make sure that the tapes can be played back at their best. And, it may prevent excessive wear and damage to the tape machines themselves, thereby reducing overall cost of operations.
