Description
The following is being included to the Description/Statement of Work section: 2. Packaging b.All vegetables and salads shall be Grade A or U.S. No. 1. Salads shall be thoroughly washed in water. Process/Pre-cut vegetables shall be vacuum packed/heat seal (with exception of garden salad/spinach) in heavy duty food grade plastic bags (2-1/2mm minimum), pin-hole free, in a temperature controlled atmosphere (i.e. vegetables are to be pre-cooled, packed under refrigerated conditions. Garden salad and spinach are not to be vacuum packed, but heat sealed only. The level of vacuum to be adjusted to the type of product. No preservatives shall be added. Each bags/trays for vegetables, salads, including 4 and 8 oz containers, shall be stamped with a "Use-By" date label showing expiration date of five (5) days from the date of delivery. Unopened vegetables must be guaranteed to remain in fresh, crisp condition for at least five (5) days after delivery. One (1) oz pre-package carrots are to have an Use-By date of 14 days from date of delivery. Sliced/diced produce shall be packed in rigid containers that allow drainage of water off of the product according to the latest approved industry standards to maintain a 5 day shelf life.
