This will be awarded as a firm fixed price type contract. Delivery Date: 30 days from date of award. The Laboratory of Cell Biology (LCB) studies the processing, transport, and metabolism of proteins and small molecules related to malignant transformation and multidrug resistance in cancer. The laboratory is in need of an EmulsiFlex-C3 homogenizer for bacterial lysing. This instrument will save time and money to purify recombinant proteins from bacteria. LCB is producing and purifying a variety of recombinant proteins in the laboratory for structural studies. This instrument will allow the LCB to quickly harvest protein from bacteria grown in the laboratory The following salient characteristics are the requirements of the EmulsiFlex-C3 homogenizer for bacterial lysing to accomplish the current mission of LCB: • Able to lyse bacteria in a single step • Produce varying volumes of bacterial lysate • Lyse bacteria without damaging sensitive multimeric protein complexes • Have a sample size that ranges from 7ml to 3L per hour • Must not require an external air source To The NCI's knowledge, the Avestin EmulsiFlex-C3 is the only homogenizer that has all of the required features described above. This is not a solicitation for competitive quotations. However, if any interested party, especially a small business, believes they can meet the above requirement, they may submit a statement of capabilities.
