Description
THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY and a SOLICITATION IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. This notice is for information and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or an obligation on the part of the Government. This request for capability information does not constitute a request for proposals. Submission of any information in response to this market survey is purely voluntary. The government assumes no financial responsibility for any costs incurred associated to this request for capability information. USDA, ARS, NCAUR is seeking a contractor to provide an Injection Molder to support research of BioPolymers at the National Center Agricultural Utilization Research (NCAUR) in Peoria, IL. The NCAUR, is issuing this sources sought to identify parties having an interest in and the resources to provide an injection molder with the following specifications. A) The physical dimensions of the injection molder must be able to fit through an 8' high and 6'0" wide total opening upon delivery. Total assembled machine dimension maximums are: length 14'6", height 7'6" and width 5'6. B) The injection molder must be able to accept and control a secondary injection unit with one control panel using the same control program for both units. C) Access to the platens on the horizontal injection molder must be free of any obstructions. Tie bars are not acceptable. D) The injection molder must be able to run with hopper exposed. Sprue guard interlock is acceptable. E) The reciprocating screw injection molder shall be capable of exerting a maximum clamping force of no less than 110 US tons, but no more than 130 US tons. F) The platens must have an SPI standard hole pattern and fit standard dies up to a die height of at least 13" and a minimum die height of no more than 5". G) The platens must accept existing Master Unit Die (MUD) Quick Change 84/90 "U" frame. This frame is an 8.4 x 9.0 inch UF301-SS1 Special "T" style "U: frame with 3.625 inch ejector height and a one inch spacer plate allowing it to hold standard MUD 84/90 unit molds. The Mold Locating Ring ID is 3.990". The result of this market research will contribute to determining whether there are adequate sources available from which to receive competitive quotes. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code to be assigned to this procurement is 333249. Submission Instructions: Interested parties, who consider themselves qualified to provide the product as detailed are invited to submit a response to this Sources Sought Notice by 12:00pm July 11, 2013. If your organization has appropriate qualifications and capacity to provide this product, please provide the following information: (1) A complete and "active registration in SAM (System for Award Management) which includes DUNS number, Organization name, address, contact name, email address, Web site address, telephone number, type of organization, small business type (if any), etc; (2) A list of previous customers (Federal Preferred) which were provided products similar in nature (3) Color Product Literature showing the features of varying models, types and functions of Injection Molders which the company has available. Request potential sources only submit the minimum information necessary. No feed back or evaluations will be provided to companies regarding their submissions. However, NCAUR may contact sources to gather additional information as needed.
