- The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Station Support/Simplified Acquisition (SS/SA) Branch, on behalf of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS)-Mouse Imaging Facility intends to negotiate and award on a non-competitive basis purchase order to Bruker-Biospin Corporation, 15 Fortune Drive, Billerica, MA 01821-3923 for the purchase Parts Only Service Contract for MIF Bruker Avance Consoles. The Service Contract is for the renewal of a parts only service contract for the 4.7 Tesla, 7 Tesla 21 cm, 7 Tesla Pharmascan Bruker, and 14 Tesla Microimaging MRI Scanners. Mouse Imaging Facility (MIF) is a shared resource that provides state-of-art facilities for research in development and application of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), X-ray computed tomography, bioluminescence, ultrasound and other animal imaging techniques. The facility resources are accessible to all investigators at NIH. MIF provides technical and material support for research activities conducted within the In Vivo NMR Research Center. The period of performance is for 12 months. Bruker-Biospin is the manufacturer and sole distributor of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging systems. Bruker-Biospin does not sell individual parts to third parties or allow third parties to perform service/maintenance contracts. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR Part 13 procedures and exempt from the requirement of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government.
