Description

SUBJECT: REPAIR THE SPECTRA-PHYSICS DEEPSEE MAI TAI HP 1040 TUNABLE PULSED CLASS IV LASER REQUISITION NUMBER: NB644030-l3-03831 The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to award on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (1), with Newport Corporation 1791 Deere Avenue, Irvine, CA 92606 to repair and replace parts for the Spectra-Physics DeepSee Mai Tai HP 1040 tunable pulsed Class IV laser. The service to be acquired is for a Spectra-Physics DeepSee Mai Tai HP 1040 tunable pulsed Class IV laser, which is part of an experimental CARS microscopy setup for noninvasive chemical imaging. The sole source justification is due to the highly specialized nature of this Class IV pulsed Ti Sapphire laser, the Newport Corporation does not authorize external service providers or small business partners to repair or perform service on the Class IV Laser. A 1 year warranty is expected against defective parts and workmanship. The resulting purchase order will be a Firm Fixed Price award. The NAICS Code is 811219 with a size standard of $19.0 million dollars. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is ot a request for quotations. However, responses received by July 30th 2013, 12:00pm, EST. Additional responses will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government whether to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
