Description
The National Spherical Torus Experiment-Upgrade (NSTX-U) a magnetic confinement fusion research device located at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) a national laboratory located in Plainsboro, NJ and operated for the United States Department of Energy (DOE) by Princeton University under Contract No. DE-AC02-09CH11466, has a requirement for development of a NdYAG laser (1064 nm) system capable of providing 1 to 1.5 J per pulse of energy. The laser system must provide 30 Hz repetition rate with the added feature of being able to produce a burst of pulses at 10-15 kHz for 5 ms. The burst mode feature must be performed after a 30 Hz pulse repetition rate. The laser beam diameter is required to be 1 cm diameter with a divergence of 0.5 mrad. It is also critical for the project to have the laser system be available and installed at PPPL by July 2016, prior to the next NSTX-U experimental campaign, which is expected to commence in January 2017. The laser must operate reliably for the length of the campaign, which is expected to last for eighteen (18) months. Interested parties should submit a statement demonstrating their capability to provide a laser system with operating parameters that equal or exceed the requirements set forth above work, by the date specified. Information submitted should describe your organization, personnel, facilities, applicable subcontractor network and past experience in providing laser systems similar to the above description. Include company name, address, telephone number, technical point of contact, item nomenclature, item description, and brochure/literature. Please send your documentation to Rodney Templon at the office identified above, by fax to (609) 243-2021 or by email to rtemplon@pppl.gov. Electronic submittals are preferred. To be considered by PPPL, documentation should be received within ten (10) working days after the date of publication of this synopsis. Please be advised that PPPL will not pay for any information submitted in response to this announcement.
