Description
SOLICITATION FOR REPAVE DINING HALL LOT & RESTRIPING PROJECT DESCRIPTION The Contractor shall provide all construction services to re-pave the dining hall parking lot and re-stripe other areas on base. PAVING Scope of work for paving will include milling the top coat, repairing cracks in the binder layer and re-paving the top coat with 2 inches of pavement. Pavement will meet AASHTO specifications and will consist of Type 6 NYSDOT Top Course Table 401-1; tack coat will meet NYSDOT 702-90. The pavement area is approximately 29,000 sf. The parking lot will be re-striped in the identical configuration as existing. Contractor will record the layout prior to demolition. Approximately 150 feet of granite curb will be installed on the edge of the parking lot. The Contractor will allow 109th CES to inspect the condition of the binder coat prior to re-surfacing with new pavement. There is also a storm water catch basin that has heaved above the road surface. The pavement around the basin needs to be re-sloped so that during winter plowing, the pavement and the catch basin frame are protected. There are 3 small areas near the dining hall where pavers have settled, causing a tripping hazard. In these areas, the pavers will be removed, brought up to grade and replaced. There is an area in the Bldg 1 parking lot approximately 10 ft by 20 ft that will be paved. The area was previously excavated for an emergency repair and was never re-paved. All connections to existing pavement will have crack-seal applied at the conclusion of the project. STRIPING There are also some minor striping removals and applications to be performed with this project. The taxiway has 12 stop blocks that need removal by grinding. The existing stop blocks are approximately 2 ft by 5 ft each. The Contractor will install 12 new 1ft by 3 ft stop blocks with yellow retro-reflective paint. There are 2 engine running crew change blocks that need re-painting. Each block is approximately 5 ft by 10 ft and will be painted with yellow retro-reflective paint. Once the blocks are dry, the letters "ERCC" will be painted in red non-retro-reflective paint to match existing. All surfaces will be swept and loose paint will be removed prior to new paint application. All paint will be lead-free waterborne paint obtained under Federal Specification TT-P-1953, Paint, Traffic and Airfield Marking, Waterborne. (http://www.wbdg.org/ccb/FEDMIL/ttp1952d.pdf). Paint will conform with Type I, Ten Minute No Pick-Up Time, or Type II, Fast Dry, High Humidity Formula. The glass beads used must meet the requirements under Federal Specification TT-B-1325, Beads, Retro-reflective, Type I, Gradation A(http://www.wbdg.org/ccb/FEDMIL/ttb1325d.pdf). Paint will be applied at a wet film thickness of 0.305 millimeter to 0.356 millimeter (12 mils to 14 mils) for a desired dry film thickness of approximately 0.203 millimeter (8 mils). This thickness is needed to properly bind retro-reflective beads in the paint. The Bldg 3 parking lot has 4 existing traffic arrows that need to be re-painted and 2 more arrows need to be added. Standard white traffic paint will be used. The existing arrows are 9 feet long, 3 feet wide at the arrow and the line is 1 foot wide. The Bldg 2A parking lot has 2 areas that will need re-striping. Each area has a "STOP" with a solid line above the letters. The word "STOP" is 7 feet long and 2 feet high, the stripe is 1 foot wide and 10 feet 6 inches long. The access area to the apron by Bldg 8 has a warning sign that needs blackening out. The sign is approximately 3 feet by 4 feet. There are also 3 areas that need re-striping. Each area has a "STOP" with a solid line above the letters. The word "STOP" is 6 feet long and 2 feet high, the stripe is 1 foot wide and 10 feet long. The Contractor shall provide all cones, barriers, lights, signs, placards, flags, and flagging personnel necessary to establish an adequate and safe work zone and control traffic in and around the work area until newly applied markings are dry.
