Description
Solicitation attached This is a solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6. The solicitation umber is AG-82FT-S-13-0030. This is a Single Source Request with Intent to Award. The proposed contract is set aside for 100% for small business concerns. The North American Industry Classification System, (NAICS) code is 334220. The Government intends to award a Firm-Fixed Price Contract for 12 SnapTrax GPS Units manufactured by Skorpa Consultancy. The technology employed by Skorpa Consultancy is not available through any other GPS manufacturer. The SnapTrax is the most powerful GPS device manufactured for its weight, which is needed to provide highly accurate positional data with minimum weight and maximum battery life. We require this device to carry out our fully funded project to study movement and habitat use of snowshoe hares in burned areas. The size of the animal and the detailed nature of the data require this type of GPS technology. Snowshoe hares have short life-spans so the same transmitter may be fitted to multiple animals. The SnapTrax is fully rechargeable by the user, so the same unit can be deployed on many individuals during the life of the study; the ability for end-users to recharge the unit is unique among manufacturers and will save the Forest Service substantially through reduced equipment costs. No other companies develop this GPS technology.
