Description
1. Our question is whether the equipment load (stated in VA) has a unity power factor (PF=1.0)? When sizing UPS output capacity it is typically done considering the load in Watts, not VA. If you could help us clarify the requirement we can provide the best solution. Answer: The actual requirement is the watts. We are expecting a PF of 0.7 to 0.95 on the UPS; hence, the Watts/VA on the output. As for the load, the calculations is provided in VA given that it is the documented current requirements of the equipment load times the voltage. So, you are correct in assuming a PF=1.0 for the worst case scenario with the equipment load. I figured this should accommodate for the initial inrush current. So, as a valid UPS selected, it must meet all the requirements. The output values of the ups, given our research should meet or exceed the runtime requirements. 2. Can you please confirm if these units do not have be TAA compliant and would there be any benefit if TAA compliant products where bid? Answer: There is a preference for TAA compliant components. If no TAA compliant components can meet the requirements, we would consider non-TAA compliant components if they meet the rest for the specifications. So TAA does not affect the performance of the UPS but highlights a preference for technically acceptable components and bids. 3. Past performance forms should be returned to Desiree DeRuyter at desiree.deruyter@navy.mil
