- THIS IS A SUBCONTRACTING OPPORTUNITY WITH MANAGEMENT & TRAINING CORPORATION ( MTC), OPERATOR OF THE PAUL SIMON CHICAGO JOB CORPS CENTER If you are interested in this subcontracting opportunity, please email me at english-thomas.renee@jobcorps.org Remove the electric water coolers (EWC) (2 per dorm) hangers, etc. and salvage for reinstallation (see PART TWO) Remove the gypsum board ceiling above the water cooler alcove. Remove the masonry back wall and short return wall, behind and to the right side of the alcove and patch masonry as necessary where walls are removed. Saw cut masonry as necessary to lessen damage to adjoining walls that are to remain. Grind floor as necessary to provide a smooth surface where masonry walls are removed. Remove EWC electrical outlets, disconnect switches, conduit, and conductors back to nearest junction box or terminate above the ceiling in a new J-box. Remove EWC plumbing vent and drain pipe. Permanently cap the drain at the floor and vent above the ceiling. Remove the EWC water lines and cap above the ceiling. Relocate the mechanical room light switch and surface mount on the masonry wall near the existing door to the mechanical room. Provide 24"x 24" ceiling access panel and backing where necessary to replace ceiling with 5/8" type X gypsum board, tape and finish, prime and paint. Repair damaged ceiling areas in the existing mechanical rooms. Provide new 5070 double door 14 gauge HM frames with two 2670, 1-3/4" solid oak, 45min. fire rated per dorm. Set frame approximately 1" back of the bullnose corners. Masonry opening is approximately 5'-5" x 7'-8" (contractor verify). Provide frame with extended head 8"+/-. Caulk around the entire frame. Paint to match existing door frames. Provide detailed door submittals for approval prior to placing order. Provide stain and finish doors to match existing. Two coats of clear polyurethane. Provide door hardware, 4" butts (1-1/2 pair per door, smoke seals and astragal. On inactive leaf provide surface mounted latch bolts at the floor and the head (install on the backside of the door). On active leaf provide additional hardware including door closer and lockset to match the existing and key to center's system.
