- Description
- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for a replacement laser transmitter and electronics unit for use in existing aircraft instrumentation. The existing unit was originally developed by Litespar. The laser unit was custom designed to fit the physical constraints of the instrument and the environmental constraints of the aircraft platform. Requirements Include: Lasing material: Nd:YVO4 with periodically poled MgO:LiNbO3 optical parametric oscillator Simultaneous three wavelength operation (1550, 1064, 775 nm) Minimum 80 microJoules per pulse at 775 nm at 5 kHz Minimum 160 microJoules per pule at 1064 nm at 5 kHz Minimum 140 microJoules per pulse at 1550 nm at 5 kHz Output beam polarization greater than 200:1 Temperature range (survival) -50C to +60C Temperature range (operating) 0C to +40C Ooperation in high-altitude (>60,000 ft) environment Laser head physically identical to existing laser head with same electrical interfaces Laser electronics unit physically and functionally identical to existing unit NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from LiteSpar, Inc. pursuant to Far 13.106 for the acquisition of supplies or services determine to be reasonably available from one source. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities statement to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 2:30 p.m. local time on February 24, 2015. Such statements will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
