Description
Directions to Location You are cordially invited to participate in the Combat Air Force (CAF) Advanced Live Operational Training (ALOT) Industry Day and Discussion on 25 February 2015 at the Research Park facility located at 1900 Founders Drive, Dayton, OH 45420. You will gain insight about ACC/A5TR's CAF ALOT requirements, status and challenges. Briefings will be held in the theater room, located on the first floor of the building. It is suggested to park in the learning center parking lot and the room can be accessed near the door entrance. Attached is an area map to provide directions for parking. As weapon systems have become increasingly complex, so have the environments in which they are expected to operate. The global development and proliferation of technologies that pose a credible threat to 5th Generation aircraft have created the desire to analyze ways in which aircrews can effectively train by engaging in Advanced Live Operational Training (ALOT). The ALOT capability will use constructive entities injected into airborne training participants to replicate the anticipated complex threat environment and maximize live training effectiveness. Initially, ALOT will include Live aircraft and Constructive elements only. ALOT is anticipated to eventually evolve and integrate with other CAF weapon systems and virtual training opportunities in Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) to create a Live, Virtual and Constructive Operational Training environment (LVC OT). The ALOT system, or system of systems, is expected to include three major components: (1) a Source of Constructive Injects (e.g., Ground-based, Airborne, Lead Ship) capability to generate a Common Operating Environment (COE) and constructive entities in the training scenario (2) a waveform to pass COE information to all training participants, and (3) an aircraft capability that would translate the COE information into aircraft-specific useable information. The CAF ALOT effort will investigate capabilities and concepts associated with: • Leveraging technical advancements to generate, transmit, and insert constructive entities into live operational training in the following range of complexity: • Non-integrated constructive injects: Constructive entities injected into the aircraft displays; this will be layered with live sensor information. • Integrated constructive injects: Constructive entities injected into the aircraft fusion systems. • Full integration of live and constructive injects: Fully integrated system fusion to blend live and constructive entities seamlessly, and includes onboard systems working collaboratively with the pilot for threat reaction and response. Technical concepts of interest are any modified commercial, government, or allied off-the-shelf systems and new technology developments assessed at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 for operational employment in 2025. This announcement is an expression of interest only and does not obligate the government in any way. Attendance at this workshop is voluntary and will not impact any future acquisitions. Please direct any questions regarding the CAF ALOT Industry Day and Discussion to Maj David Satterfield, ACC/A5TR, (757) 225-7068 or david.satterfield@us.af.mil.
