Description
A.The Contractor: Shall provide all labor, supervision, tools, transportation, equipment, and materials necessary to construct and add five (5) new retaining walls to the three (3) existing columbaria at Santa Fe National Cemetery, as described herein and as shown in the contract drawings and specifications. B.The Work: The Work shall include, but shall not be limited to the following (not necessarily in the order indicated): 1.Remove the existing landscape boulders and clear and grub the project sites for excavation as shown in the contract drawings and specifications. 2.Excavate each of the five (5) retaining wall sites to prepare for the installation of the concrete footings as shown in the contract drawings and specifications. Minimize the extent of the excavation to allow unobstructed public access to the columbaria niche walls, to reduce the amount of disturbed soil and turf, and to reduce the project area at each retaining wall location. Erect construction fencing around each location and maintain the fencing for the duration of the work. 3.Form and place the reinforced concrete footings as shown in the contract drawings and specifications. 4.Demolish and remove the selected portions of the natural stone facade in the existing columbaria to allow for the installation and blending of the new natural stone facade of the new retaining wall. 5.Fabricate and grout the CMU retaining walls as shown in the contract drawings and specifications. 6.Install the bituminous damproofing, filter fabric, drainage fill, and perforated drainage pipe (where applicable) on the backside of the new retaining walls as shown in the contract drawings and specifications. 7.Install the natural stone veneer and blend into the existing veneer on the existing columbaria pilaster as shown in the contract drawings and specifications. 8.Install the precast wall caps, cap anchors, flashing, and apply joint sealant as shown in the contract drawings and specifications. 9.At the completion of the fabrication work as shown in the contract drawings and specifications, restore each of the five (5) work sites to their original condition ensuring each location has proper site drainage. 10.Install matching turfgrass sod and re-install the landscape boulders at the direction of the COR. 11.Haul away & dump excess spoils, debris, and waste to an approved disposal site. 12.Thoroughly clean up the work area at the end of each day's work, and at completion of the project. Leave premises clean and free of waste, scrap, used equipment, or other material intentionally or incidentally delivered to the site by Contractor or Contractor's personnel. 13.The Contractor shall protect from damage all existing improvements and utilities at or near the work site and on adjacent property. The Contractor shall repair any damage to those facilities, including those that are the property of a third party, resulting from failure to comply with the requirements of this contract or failure to exercise reasonable care in performing the work. If the Contractor fails or refuses to repair the damage promptly, the Contracting Officer may have the necessary work performed and charge the cost to the Contractor. 14.Upon completion of contract, deliver work complete and undamaged. Existing materials, equipment, fixtures, or structures disturbed or removed as a result of performing required new work, shall be patched, repaired, reinstalled, or replaced with new work, and refinished and left in as good condition as existed before commencing work. 15.At Contractor's own expense, Contractor shall immediately restore to service and repair any damage caused by Contractor's workmen to existing piping and conduits, wires, cables, etc., of utility services or of fire protection systems and communications systems (including telephone) which are not scheduled for discontinuance or abandonment.
