- Description
- The Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division (NAWCWD), China Lake, CA intends to award a firm fixed price (FFP) contract to procure 37 Flight Termination Shaped Chargers (FTSC) & 74 Flexible Confined Detonation Cords (FTDC) to UTC Aerospace Systems, 3530 Branscombe Road, Fairfield, CA 94533, manufacturer part numbers 52153-1 and 52155-1. The delivery schedule is 12 months after receipt of order. This is a manufacturer sole source that must meet all technical requirements. The FTSC and FTDC are critical subcomponents of a Flight Termination System (FTS). The FTS used by Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW) freeflight testing activities has been certified for use in accordance with Range Commander Council (RCC)-319, Flight Termination Systems Commonality Standard. As the use of RCC member range(s) is necessary for the execution of required JSOW flight test(s), the JSOW FTS must meet RCC-319. Due to the strict safety requirements of RCC-319, only the above mentioned part meets agency needs. The FTS subcomponents are unique to the manufacturer and were specifically designed for the JSOW Program's FTS, thus no drop-in-replacement second source exists. Any substitution of a new subcomponent automatically invalidates the Safety certification for both the replaced subcomponent and the FTS. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which shall be considered by the agency. Responses and questions may be submitted to NAWCWD Contract Specialist Melinda Childs by email (preferred): melinda.childs@navy.mil, fax to (760) 939-3095, or mail to Commander Code 220000D, NAWCWD, 429 E. Bowen Ave, MS 4015, China Lake, CA 93555-6108.
