- Request for Information: Modular Ballistic Furniture (Podiums) Summary : This Request for Information (RFI) is for Market Research and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. This is NOT a Request for Proposal, Invitation for Bid, or an announcement of a solicitation. Response to this RFI is strictly voluntary and will not affect any potential offeror's ability to submit an offer if a solicitation is released. There is no bid package or solicitation document associated with this announcement. The purpose of this document is to identify potential sources, conduct market research, and develop a complete requirement. Any requests for a solicitation package will be disregarded. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for the information solicited. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of preparing submissions in response to this RFI and the Government's use of such information. Submittals will not be returned to the sender. Background: The United States Marshals Service (USMS) Office of Security Systems (OSS) seeks ballistic podiums in support of the Judicial Security Division. Specifications: 1. P odiums that are modular and ballistic rated to UL 752 Level III with casters which can be locked. The podium shall have a key lock on the drawer, combination key and magnetic lock on the vertical door with an adjustable shelf, and ballistic rated to UL 752 Level III shield with rack inside the cabinet. Level III transparent ballistic glazing shield 18” in height shall be attached at the top to cover the front and both sides. Podium shall have ballistic woven material concealed to cover the front and both sides for protection. Podium shall have a one (1) year warranty from the date of acceptance by the Government on the workmanship and a ten (10) year warranty on the integrity of the ballistic material. The podium will be approximately 54”H x 30”W x 30”D. Podium shall have mahogany panels (stain grade veneer) with hardwood (same species) base trim unless otherwise specified. Total overall height of podium with glazing shall not exceed 6 feet (measured from finished floor). 2. Podiums that are modular and ballistic rated to UL 752 Level III with casters which can be locked (however, these can be removed to make the podium stationary). The podium shall have a key lock on the drawer and on the vertical door with an adjustable shelf. Level III transparent ballistic glazing shield 18” in height shall be attached at the top to cover the front and both sides. Podium shall have ballistic woven material concealed to cover the front and both sides for protection. Podium shall have a one (1) year warranty from the date of acceptance by the Government on the workmanship and a ten (10) year warranty on the integrity of the ballistic material. The Podium will be approximately 42”H x 46”W x 30”D. podium shall have mahogany panels (stain grade veneer) with hardwood (same species) base trim unless otherwise specified. Total overall height of podium with glazing shall not exceed 5 feet (measured from finished floor). Vendor must provide installation and assembly of podiums on-site if product comes unassembled and must be assembled by the manufacturer or designated representative due to warranty and/or liability. Provide a certificate of authenticity which certifies the ballistic rating of the podium Instructions : Interested parties shall submit a response in Microsoft Word or PDF Format. All information shall be UNCLASSIFIED material only. Any company proprietary information must be marked as such. Information shall not exceed five (5) one-sided 8 ½ x 11 pages, with one inch margins, and font no smaller than 12 point. Respondents shall include as part of their submission: 1. Company name, address, phone number; a point of contact with email address; Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) Number; and North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes. 2. Identification of business size and whether currently designated as a small business as defined by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 19 and currently registered in the System for Award Management (SAM). Small business size standards are published by the Small Business Administration (SBA) and may be found at http://www.sba.gov/sites/default/files/files/Size_Standards_Table.pdf 3. Identify your firm’s availability on GSA Schedule, including schedule contract number and associated special item numbers (SIN.) Interested parties must submit a capability statement in response to this RFI by e-mail no later than 12:00pm, EST, Wednesday, July 1, 2015, to Lauren Buchanan, Contract Specialist, at OSC.procurements@usms.doj.gov.
