- Description
- THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT AND NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Research Triangle Park NC, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Biomedical Research & Development Laboratories, Inc. 8561 Atlas Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20877, pursuant to 41U.S.C.253(c)(1)--Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This request is for Gradient Fractionation System as follows: 1) BR-188-176 components include the following at one each: 1) UA-6/type 11 Detector with Chart Recorder, FCC-176/FC-176 Comm. Cable, FC-176-R1/R1 Fraction Collector, 60-1020-211/ UA-6Dector Cable, BR-186-5/Tube Piercer w/flow Cell and Syringe Pump. 2) Installation &Training 1 each. 3) 2137-188/Data Capture Software/ 1 each. The molecular mechanism governing the regulation of ribosome biogenesis, one of the most energetically demanding processes with the cell that must be tightly regulated with cell cycle progression and environmental stimuli. The capability to purify ribosomes is critical to NIEHS research. The Brandel BR-188 Density Gradient Fractionation system is a critically important piece of equipment for the lab so that NIEHS can purify ribosomes for research into how the environment can affect ribosome biogenesis. This system has the following unique qualifications: Gradient is displaced from the bottom up. - Displacement from the bottom up allows for a continuous absorbance profile as the gradient is displaced by a dense chase solution. - System seals and punctures the bottom of most common centrifuge tubes. - Zone broadening and mixing are minimized with upward bulk flow. - Syringe pump provides a more even displacement than the pulsation associated with peristaltic pumps. - Collect peaks by time, volume, signal threshold, signal slope, or using multiple detector channels - Fraction collector accepts 12 different collection vessels from MiniVials to Prep funnels at flows up to 100 mL/min. NIEHS studies the regulation and molecular mechanisms of ribosome biogenesis which these criteria are needed to continue ongoing research. Respond to this requirement by submitting written capabilities/specifications to the Purchasing Agent at the address stated above. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received with 15 days from the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 15 days of this notice to determine whether a qualified source, this order will be placed with Biomedical Research & Development Laboratories Inc. The NAICS Code/Size is 334516/500. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in conjunction with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and is not expected to exceed the Simplified Acquisition threshold of $150,000. There is no solicitation package available. For any questions regarding this announcement, please contact Tanya Shields via email shields3@niehs.nih.gov.
