- Description
- The Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Environmental Management (EM), Consolidated Business Center (CBC), intends to contract with Desert Research Institute (DRI) for a requirement to perform a scientific investigation in support of the development of a new volcanic ash natural phenomena hazard estimate for the Department of Energy Hanford Site and for the DOE Office of River Protection located in Richland, Washington. DRI is the only wind re-suspension laboratory in the US capable of determining threshold values for wind re-suspension of ash samples with relatively limited samples of material. This is not a Request for proposal however interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 07/21/2015. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
