Introduction/Description: This contracting opportunity is being solicited as a small business set-aside The responses to this market survey will be used for information purposes only. This is not a screening information request for proposals of any kind. The FAA is not seeking or accepting unsolicited proposals. The FAA will not pay for any information received or costs incurred associated in preparation or in response to this market survey. Scope and Sequence of Work: An abbreviated scope of work is provided below. The work includes, but is not limited to the following: For the MTB Localizer: The contractor shall furnish labor, equipment, materials, transportation and supervision to complete the following on the MTB Localizer antenna platform located on the Monterey Pines Golf Course, serving Monterey Airport: Remove and replace the old stairway handrails and platform guardrails with new lumber (to include top rail, mid rails, toe board, and posts). New posts are to be 4x6 lumber. New rails and toe board are to be 2x6 lumber. Final guard rails and hand rails are to have the same configuration of rails as the existing but shall meet current codes. Remove and replace the deck and stair tread with new lumber using 2x6x14 lumber for new deck and 2x6 lumber for stair tread. Add new joists (typical of 3) using new lumber of the same size and approximate lengths as the existing joists. New joists are to be placed at the mid-point between the existing joists so as to provide equally spaced joists. They shall be attached to the existing beams in the same manner as the existing joist. Add new cross-bracing similar to the existing cross-bracing for the two inner bays on each side and the inner bay from the end. New cross-bracing is typical of 6 bays. Each new bay cross-brace shall have two crosses at the lower section and shall match the existing installation. Use new lumber. Remove and replace the lumber that the antennas are mounted to. Use new lumber. The contractor shall remove all electrical conduits, wiring runs, localizer antennas, junction boxes, doghouse, obstruction lights and all other electrical equipment so as to perform platform repair work. All items shall be returned to the same location and condition as at the beginning of the project with care to place the antennas in the exact locations as the existing locations and with care to not damage equipment and cables. Before beginning the project the contractor shall measure and mark the localizer centerline and antenna locations. All new lumber shall be high grade (min number 2 grade) pressure treated lumber. All hardware shall be galvanized and shall be sized and placed as per local and state codes. Rails and decking must meet all local and state requirements. Use appropriate deck screws for deck and stair treads as per codes. If large equipment, man-lifts or large trucks are used and they damage the surrounding landscaping and surface areas, then the contractor shall repair the landscaping and surface areas to its original condition. The localizer is located on a golf course. The appearance of the grounds is very important. Paint entire structure with premium primer paint and with premium paint top coats of alternating areas of orange and white as per FAA requirements. Coordinate exact colors and placement of paint with the Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR). New wood requires one coat of premium primer and two top coats of premium exterior paint. The contractor shall coordinate with the Monterey Pines Golf Course to safely work around golf course. (Suggest example; closing (blue) tee box on hole 16 and cart path during construction near the localizer antenna structure.) The contractor shall provide a fence or similar barrier to prevent the public from entering the construction zone.
